| Utility Termination |
We
advise our customers to be sure that utilities stay on during packing and moving
days. Many times customers need to reach their Elite Move Management counselor
and we want to be able to reach you. It is critical that you keep utilities on
till the day after the movers are gone. |
| Moving with Pets |
Pets are part of our families so why do we think that they
won’t be affected by the move process?
Pets can not be moved
by movers, so be sure that for their own safety they are not around on moving
day. Your Elite Move Management counselor can help you arrange for pet
transportation. You must contact your veterinarian to obtain pet health
records, update tags, and tranquilizers to calm your pet during transport. |
| Moving with Plants |
In
general plants should not and can not be moved. Movers can not be responsible
for the care of plants and many states quarantine plants at all times.
Elite Move Management recommends that they either move with you or you arrange
for a loved one to care for them for you. |
| Moving with Children |
Children,
just like adults like to have a routine, and moving can disrupt this and cause
stress for everyone especially children.
It really is best to arrange for a baby sitter for small children so that they
can play while you are going through the stress of the pack, load and delivery
process.
Letting your children get involved in packing up their items and put them in
special boxes helps to make them feel that this is real and helps to put away
fears of their items not getting moved.
All these things will alleviate some of their fears and stress about moving to
their new home! . |
| Paying
for your Move |
Be
sure to ask the moving companies what forms of payments they will accept. Most
movers will take credit cards, however; it varies from mover to mover one which
types of cards they will take.

|
Binding Vs. Non- Binding Estimates |
BINDING
This term means that the price you are given during the estimate will be the
actual price you will pay at the end of your move. Your final price will not
increase or decrease based on the final weight of your mover. However, you
must keep in mind that if you add items or additional services are required or
requested – the mover can void his binding price by having you sign off on an
addendum to the original price. If you have questions on this type of pricing
you should have your mover explain their procedures to you as binding pricing
formats can differ from company to company.
In
addition, some movers can offer "guaranteed not to exceed" pricing. This type
of pricing will guarantee that your price will not be more than the original
estimate, however it can come down based on actual services performed
(example – weight or packing being less)
Additional services such as shuttle and other destination services can apply.
Check with your moving company to be sure you understand this type of pricing
format.
NON-BINDING
This type of pricing is not guaranteed. Your final costs will be based on
actual services and weights performed.
Under a non-binding estimate the mover cannot require you to pay more than the
amount of the original estimate plus 10% at the time of delivery. YOU ARE
REQUIRED HOWEVER TO PAY ANY ADDITIONAL AMOUNT DUE IN FULL WITHIN 30 DAYS.
You need to be careful of movers who have given you an estimate with a very low
weight or very low box count and will not give some sort of binding pricing.
You will pay for the weight and packing at the end of the move. |
